Did you know that the annual total no. of visits to Irish public libraries is greater than the total annual no. of attendances at all GAA championship games? For every attendance at a GAA championship match, about six visits are made to public libraries in Ireland. These figures do not include online visits.
In Ireland, over 14 million visits are made to public libraries every year, while attendance figures at GAA fixtures total about two million - a ratio of >6:1 in favour of public libraries. Library visits, now in excess of 14 million, showed an increase of 16% between 2002 and 2007.
