Mayfield Library, situated near Montenotte on the Old Youghal Road, serves the people of the north-east suburb of Cork city and its surrounding area. When it opened to the public in November 1984, this was our fifth local library branch. The Mayfield Library is officially named the Frank O’Connor Library, since it was dedicated in his memory in October 1999. A permanent exhibition commemorating O’Connor’s life is on display.
Opening Hours:
Tuesday to Saturday: 10.00a.m. – 1.00p.m., 2.00p.m. – 5.30p.m.
Transport access: Bus no. 8 stops beside the library. The library is wheelchair accessible and provides free car parking for library users.
Bookstock: 37,405 (23,461 for adults; 13,944 for children & teenagers).
No. of public-access computers with Internet access: Five public Internet computers are available to members and non-members. Internet bookings can also be made by telephoning 4924935, after 10.00 a.m.
Adult Reading Group: Mayfield Book Club meets on the second Wednesday of each month from September to June.

Lectures and exhibitions
Talks and lectures on various topics are held during the year to coincide with the Bealtaine Festival; Lifelong Learning Festival; Heritage Week; and other events.
Art exhibitions and book displays are held frequently.
