Cork Music Archive

cdsCork City Libraries established the Cork Music Archive to give a permanent home to the wealth of music produced by Cork people. Music is woven into virtually every aspect of the life of Cork city and county, and is an unmistakable part of who we are. The collections held in the Archive cover all forms of music: classical, choral, traditional and contemporary.
The aims of the Cork Music Archive are to:

  • collect, document, preserve and make available the musical heritage and current musical output of Cork – the city and region
  • seek out important items of musical heritage, and promote and support archival recording etc.
  • promote awareness and enjoyment of Cork’s music.

Were you in a band? Did one of your family or friends write a song or an album? Are you a fan of any local group? Do you want to see their work remembered?

Cork Music Archive needs your support to build a local music resource for all fans. If you do have any locally produced material (CDs, DVDs, vinyl, books, tickets, photographs, newspaper clippings or any other memorabilia) that you’d like to have preserved, drop it into the City Library, Grand Parade, either the Music Library or Local Studies, whichever suits.

Do it now! Keep local music alive for the future
