An Ciorcal Comhrá: an informal group for adults that meets for conversational Irish.  An Ciorcal Comhrá was established in February 2000 in Douglas Library.  At 11.00 a.m. on the fourth Friday of each month, one of the guests volunteers to act as a "Bean/Fear an Tí" to encourage the flow of conversation/comhrá among the informal gathering.  While about 12 to 15 people attend regularly, new people frequently turn up.  Conversations can be quite lively, with the occasional song thrown in!

All levels of Irish and age groups are catered for, and everyone is given a chance to contribute.  As well as providing an opportunity for adults to converse in Irish in an informal manner, the group occasionally discusses material from newspapers, magazines and from library books in Irish.  Occasionally, authors/poets are invited to read from their own works.  Cassettes and book packs on learning Irish are available in the library.  The cupán tae is brioscaí are very popular too!
