Q. Why is Douglas Library closed?
The Douglas Village Shopping Centre car park where Douglas Library is situated suffered a catastrophic fire on 31 August 2019. Currently the shopping centre and all its units are closed indefinitely.
Q. How long will Douglas Library be closed for?
The latest information we have from the shopping centre management, is that the shopping centre will be closed until at least summer 2020. Any updates about Douglas Library will be posted on our website at http://www.corkcitylibraries.ie and on our Facebook and Twitter feeds.

Q. What other libraries can I use?
Your nearest library is Tory Top Library in Ballyphehane. However, your library card can be used in any public library in the city, county and country.

Q. Where is Tory Top Library, and what are the hours?

Tory Top Library is open Tuesday to Saturday 10.00 am - 5.30 pm, and open until 8.00 pm on Tuesdays between September and June.
Q. I had reserves on some books, what will happen to them?
Any reserves that had not yet been delivered to Douglas Library before the fire will be delivered to Tory Top Library for collection. You will be notified as normal by post, SMS or email when they come in, or you may get a phone call. You can pick them up at Tory Top Library, or call a member of staff there to make alternative arrangements.
Q. How do I sign up for an online account?
- Enter the Surname and First Name of the library account
- Enter the 14 digit barcode from your library card
- Enter Your 4 digit PIN
If you do not remember your PIN, you can reset it online at https://lgma.iii.com/pinreset
Your online account will allow you to place holds on items and arrange for them to be picked up in another library while Douglas Library is closed.

Q. I want to change where I pick up my reserved items, how do I do that?
- Log into your library account at https://lgma.iii.com/iii/cas/login?service=https%3A%2F%2Flibrariesireland.iii.com%3A443%2Fiii%2Fencore%2Fj_acegi_cas_security_check
- At the top right, look for My Account.
- At the left of the screen, look for Holds.
- Click on Holds to bring up a list of items you have requested.
- Under PICKUP LOCATION you can choose where you would like to pick up your holds.
Q. What about the events and clubs that used to take place in Douglas Library?
Douglas Library staff have been in contact with the all the groups that use the library spaces to explain the situation. In some cases events may be moved to alternative venues. Keep an eye on our website, facebook and twitter pages for any updates.
Q. What about the staff?
Thanks for asking! Currently staff are deployed in other libraries around the city, and are working to manage the return of Douglas Library books that were out on loan at the time of the fire and on the processing of requests for Douglas Library customers.
