International Dublin Literary Award 2017

The winner of the International Dublin Literary Award 2017 is A General Theory of Oblivion by Angolan author José Eduardo Agualusa. Originally published in Portuguese as Teoria Geral do Esquecimento, the English translation is by Danny Hahn. The award, formerly known as the IMPAC Award, is worth €100,000, to be divided between the author and the translator in this instance. Nominations for the award are made by public libraries in major cities globally, and this year's shortlist of ten included six translations.
