aloys_fleischmannCork City Libraries celebrated the life of Aloys Fleischmann Jnr. at the Central Library, Grand Parade, Cork
with the exhibition “Fleischmann, Family, & Friends” opened by Emeritus Professor John A. Murphy on 16 February 2010.  The exhibition tells the story of Prof Aloys Fleischmann - his childhood, his parents Tilly & Aloys, his career in UCC and in the city and is illustrated with photographs and other images. Digital selections of his letters, diaries, photographs, Dachau paintings, recordings and manuscript scores will be available for viewing. The exhibition remained in the Central Library until April 2010 and then toured other libraries and venues in Cork and around the country.

• Publication of book The Fleischmanns: A Remarkable Cork Family – A Companion to the Fleischmann Centenary Celebration published by Cork City Libraries 2010.  The 52-page book includes well illustrated biographies on Tilly, Aloys Snr and Professor Aloys Fleischmann with many rare photographs. Text by Séamas de Barra, Ruth Fleischmann, and Patrick Zuk. The book is for sale for €10.

Cork City Library: Summoned By Bells

Carillon concert for schoolchildren with Boudewijn Zwart and Adrian Gebruers works by Aloys Fleischmann, Nochtraí and Toccata and Staf Gebruers.   Dutch carillonneur Boudewijn Zwart makes a very welcome return visit to Cork with his ''Bell Moods" travelling carillon, this amazing instrument consisting of fifty sonorous bronze cast bells.  Concerts will include musical tributes to mark the Aloys Fleischmann Centenary and the 40th Anniversary of the death of the Flemish-Irish musician Staf Gebruers (1902-1970), as well as some musical novelties for the young at heart.  Boudewijn will be joined by Adrian Gebruers, Carillonneur of St Colman's Cathedreal in Cobh.

School Concerts during the day (times TBC).  Carillon performance @ 7 p.m.  Cork City Library, Grand Parade, Cork.

This programme features aspects of  his musical heritage, the early works, the development of the music department at University College Cork, the foundation of the Cork Symphony Orchestra and the Cork Choral Festival. Contributors include Ruth Fleischmann, Séamas de Barra, Micheál O Súilleabháin, Kitty Buckley, Vivienne Ryan  and archive recordings of  Aloys Fleischmann.

CIT Cork School of Music has nominated David Wallace as 'Aloys Fleischmann Composer-in-Residence' at the School Sep-Dec. 2010

Cork International Choral Festival has commissioned a limited edition of 12 ceramic plaques from the Irish artist Cormac Boydell, in honour of the Aloys Fleischmann  Centenary and his contribution to choral music in Ireland.  The trophy will be presented to the winners of the national adult and schools competitions at the 56th festival (28 April - 02 May 2010)

Cork Orchestral Society commission: Quartet No 2 by David Wallace for the Fleischmann Centenary Concerton 13 April in CIT Cork School of Music.

Cork Orchestral Society sponsors Aloys Fleischmann portrait in Kevin Sanquest's Cork Book of Remembrance, which contains 300 portraits and biographies honouring Cork people from all over the world - exhibition in Fota House, Cobh, Co Cork from the end of May 2010.
