DOIREANN'S TOP 10 MUST READ BOOKS OF ALL TIME!

Cork City Library’s newest blogger is 16 year of Doireann from Mayfield. When she’s not listening to her favourite band Nirvana, playing guitar, or hanging out with her friends, Doireann can be found tucked away somewhere with a good book. Although a big fan of series, Doireann is always on the lookout for new authors and titles. Whether it’s science fiction, real life stories, fantasy or humour, Doireann devours books from all over the world! You’ll find here top ten favourite books here...


1. Divergent by Veronica Roth The Divergent trilogy is one of the best book series I’ve read in a long time. The story of Tris and her struggle to belong is one many people can empathise with, thus creating a bond with the character and keeping the reader interested. I loved the series so much I’ve read them 4 times and they’re still as captivating as the first time I read them.	‌
2. Cirque du Freak by Darren Shan Cirque du Freak is quite possibly my favourite series of all time. Darren and Mister Crepsley are such hilarious characters that you can’t help but laugh at their witty conversations. The series is full of twists and turns that are unexpected and shockingly funny. As an author, Darren Shan is incredibly talented and skilled. If you love the weird and the wacky, you need to read this series!‌
3. Inkheart by Cornelia Funke Again, the Inkheart trilogy is one I admire greatly. You get lost in the story so easily that you begin to forget the fact that you’re reading a book and not actually living in it. I think the fairytale aspect of these books is what makes them so captivating. I mean we all have that one story we want to live in forever right? Well these books make that happen (literally in Meg’s case) as you are transported from reality to imaginary in a matter of pages.	‌
4. The Godfather by Mario Puzo I will admit, I only decided to read this book after seeing the movie for the first time last year and I can safely say I wasn’t disappointed. I seriously enjoyed reading the book. The key elements of the movie were there but there was so much more written in the book that I found it more appealing. If you liked the movie, I’d recommend reading the book. There’s an offer you can’t refuse, right?	‌
5. Six Graves to Munich by Mario Puzo/Cleri Written under the pen name Mario Cleri, Six Graves to Munich was deep, dark and weird, which is probably why it appealed to me so much. The story was typical of Mario, love, murder and deception on every page. If you haven’t read any of his books, I’d recommend starting with this book, for the simple fact that it is short, and easy to follow, much unlike some of his other books.	‌
6. Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris The Sookie Stackhouse novels that inspired the TV series True Blood are literally one of a kind. You’ve got everything from a mind-reading human to vampires, werewolves to shifters and fairies to the all important vampire blood drinking shape shifting witches. Now that’s an interesting bunch of people. Like Cirque du Freak, it’s the weird and the wacky that draw me to this series, as well as the talented writing of Mrs. Harris herself. If you like interesting storylines or are a fan of the TV show, I’d recommend reading these books. You won’t be disappointed.	‌
7. Omg is This Actually My Life by Rae Earl This is by far the funniest book I’ve ever read in my life! The poor girl has to deal with an insane amount of stuff, from school, to friendship drama. This is a book so many people can relate to and laugh along with that I had it done in 2 days. If you’re looking for a good, hilarious book, look no further than “OMG! IS THIS ACTUALLY MY LIFE!!”	‌
8. Kurt Cobain:The Nirvana Years by Carrie Borzillo Where to start? This book gives you the story of (in my opinion, correct me if I’m wrong) one of the most influential people in grunge music. The book goes into great detail about him and his career. If you love music, and love Nirvana as much as I do (which is a lot) then this book is for you.	‌
9. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green This book has been out for a while now, as well as the movie, but I love it. The book had me in tears it was so emotional. It took me less than a day to read it, so I read it again, and again. It is one of the most effective books about life as a cancer patient I’ve ever read, and it was so well written that I felt as if I knew the characters personally. I’d highly recommend reading it, if you haven’t already.	‌
10. The Road to Woodbury by Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga The Walking Dead is my all time favourite TV series so I decided to give this book a go. I started it yesterday and I’m almost done already. Seriously this book is amazing. Hopefully by the time this list is published I will have finished the book but from what I’ve read...........you need to read it guys!	‌
