Kids & Teens Services

Children and teenagers are entitled to free library membership. Each registered child or teenager can borrow up to ten items at any one time. We have a wide range of books for all ages from babies right up to Young Adult readers and we provide support for children who are learning to read by stocking a wide range of material suitable for all ages and reading abilities. Staff are on-hand to assist children and their parents should they need help picking books. Members can request items from any of our local libraries throughout the city.  Audio books, on CD or tape format, are also available.  Events are frequently organized to make visits to the library more attractive and to encourage reading.  Occasionally authors from Ireland and Britain discuss their writings with school children in the library.

Special programmes of events are organized for summer events and for the annual children’s book festival in the autumn.  See our What’s On in the Central Children’s Library for more details.

Total bookstock of Central Library Kids & Teens (in 2006):  18,750
