Welcome to the Cork International Choral Festival home page.
Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Catherine Clancy, inaugurated the Cork International Choral Festival Online archive on 2 May 2014. The launch took place in CIT Cork School of Music, Union Quay.
This archive was created by Cork City Libraries following the digitization of unique material on the Festival. The city is grateful to the Association of Irish Choirs for donating the collection to the library so that it remains in Cork, to John Fitzpatrick and staff at the Choral Festival Office for their unfailing support, to Ruth, Ann & Maeve Fleischmann for their indefatigable work in research and archive preservation, and to UCC Archivist Catríona Mulcahy without whose time and generosity the collection could not have been completed.
The material includes the programmes of the Festival since its inception in 1954, and the brochures and commissioned scores since the seminar on contemporary choral music began and up to the present day.
The digitization, editing and website creation was undertaken with enthusiasm and professionalism by James O’Donnell while on a JobBridge Internship with Cork City Libraries, under the supervision of Music Librarian Kitty Buckley and John Mullins, eLibrary Services. The commitment of City Librarian Liam Ronayne ensured this worthwhile resource are made available to all.
