This exhibition on the work of Joan Denise Moriarty was created by the Fleischmann family during the Fleischmann centenary celebrations. It was presented in Cork’s Firkin Crane in April 2010, opened by Domy Reiter-Soffer, the Israeli choreographer associated with all three Moriarty ballet companies, and a life-long friend of hers. The exhibition highlights Joan Denise Moriarty’s engagement with contemporary Irish composers in commissioning new music for her ballets, and her collaboration with traditional Irish musicians and groups such as Séan Ó Riada, Èamon de Buitléar, Ceoltóirí Chualann, Ceoltóirí Laighean and The Chieftains. |
