Short Story Competition
Cork City Libraries celebrate the emerging writer by inviting teenagers aged 13-18 years to enter The Cork City Libraries' Short Story Competition!
There are no theme restrictions, and entries should be between 1000-4000 words. Those short-listed will receive a written critique of their work by local writer Kevin Doyle. The winner will be announced as part of World Book Festival during Teen Day on Friday, 23 April 2010, in Central Library, Grand Parade. Each story should be accompanied by a cover sheet with the writer's name, address, email address, telephone number, school address, title of piece and word count.
Graphic Novel Project 2010
RedShift
In 2009 teenagers in Cork City Library produced their first graphic novel, called RedShift. Due to the overwhelming success of these workshops, led by John Sexton who facilitated the creative writing aspect, and Alan Barrett, graphic artist, Cork City Library service is pleased to announce its second graphic novel project for secondary school students in 2010 which will be launched during World Book Festival on 23 April, 2010.Check out RedShift below and watch this space for the next graphic novel!
