Online learning: research databases

The Reference Library provides in-house passworded access to the following electronic databases and journals:           

Business and Finance  — A business magazine providing coverage and analysis of key business stories of national and global interest.

The Economist  — Provides information on international politics, current affairs and business.   

History Ireland  — Illustrated Irish history magazine, featuring articles from all periods of history, books reviews, news and events. 

Ireland's Historical Mapping Archive - Providing access to historical Ordnance Survey maps of Ireland online.

Irish Health -  Medical and health care information.

Irish Newspaper Archive is the world's largest online database of Irish Newspapers from which it is possible to search, retrieve and view Ireland's past in the exact format it was published. It is free to use in the Reference and Local Studies Departments, Grand Parade.

Irish Times digital archive -  The archive contains the entire Irish Times from its first edition in 1859 to the present. 

Irish University Review Online - aims to foster and publish the best scholarly research and critical debate in Irish literary and cultural studies. Irish University Review Online 

JSTOR  —   An online archive of academic journals and other scholarly content. Cork City Libraries provides free in-house access to JSTOR's Ireland Collection of almost 100 journals within JSTOR.     

KeesingsA world news archive from 1931 to present.

Journal of Music in Ireland  — Music magazine discussing musical life in Ireland.

Public affairs Ireland  — A guide to legislative, regulatory and public affairs issues in Ireland.

Times Literary Supplement Provides reviews of books and other cultural events.


Electronic Resources available from home   

Registered members of Cork City Libraries can access Encyclopedia Britannica from home by entering their membership barcode.
