Bishopstown Library
Bishopstown Library is a modern multi-use facility, the newest and the largest of the six local public libraries in the city. Housed in a modern and spacious building, making extensive use of natural light, it incorporates the best features of modern library design. The Library is located in the grounds of Wilton Shopping Centre, near the SMA Church, and was shortlisted for National and European design awards in the past.
In addition to public lending facilities, the library has a number of Multi Purpose Rooms - a Group Study and Meeting Room; a dedicated Exhibition Room; and a Children's Multipurpose Room, all of which can be adapted for a variety of community based and Library event purposes.
Bishopstown Library offers up to date PC, Digital Scanner, and Internet technologies. Everyone is welcome to visit, to use the Internet and computer facilities or to use the library as a free reading space and leisure space. Members can borrow material from our lending stock to take away with them.

The library is located in the grounds of Wilton Shopping Centre, adjacent to the SMA Church, approximately 10 minutes from Cork city centre by car, in the Western suburbs, directly across the road from Cork University Hospital (CUH).

By Public Transport - Bus Services
Bus no. 8 (Western Road), from the city centre to Wilton Shopping Centre, stops directly across from Cork University Hospital (CUH).
Bus no. 14 stops outside the Tesco supermarket on Sarsfield Road, on the eastern side of the shopping centre.
Bus no. 19 (Southern Orbital route) runs between Bishopstown and Mahon. It stops at both the CUH and at Sarsfield Road.
Parking facilities:
Parking is available in the Shopping Centre. Please note there is a three-hour limit in force in the car park, effective to 5.30 p.m. daily.
Designated disabled parking spaces are available adjacent to the library.
Items Stocked:
Our collection includes 42,000 items (July 2009), including books, Music CDs, and DVDs including contemoprary, film classics and a selection of documentaries. The Library also stocks a selection of audiobooks o CD and audio cassette.
Culture and Imagination — on the ground floor. incorporates Fiction, for adults, a Teen section and the Childrens Library
Information and Learning — on the first floor includes Adult Non-fiction, Language-learning materials, and Ready Reference
Computer Facilities: Our Library offers public-access computers available for general net browsing.In addition we offer an express Internet Service on a limited number of PCs. and a number are also available for research uses. Other PCs are dedicated solely for children's use and are fitted with appropriate filtering software. Every PC features the Microsoft Office suite. Digital Scanning facilities are available on two PCs. There are faciliteis for those with visual impairment to use many of these technologies in the ibrary.
We have PCs reserved for searching the library catalogue, including all stock holdings of Cork City Libraries.
Printing and Copying: You may print from our PCs; we also offer a self-service photocopy service, and we provide a public fax service. There is a small charge for copies and for the fax service.
