About Us

Opening Hours & Locations

You can visit Cork City Libraries at any of seven service points — the Central Library, a network of Local Libraries. Select a location on general map below for more detailed information and local maps.

Online services are available on this website, which includes 24-hour access to our online catalogue. As well as being a searching facility, the online catalogue allows the online renewal of borrowed items, provided these items are not already requested by another library user. The online catalogue can also be used by members to request items in stock.

  • The Central Library and Bishopstown Library are open six days per week, Monday to Saturday — except for our Local Studies department, which is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays (since July 2014), and our Reference department which is closed on Mondays (since April 2015, due to staffing shortages).
  • Our other (local) libraries are open Tuesday to Saturday.
  • Our libraries, except for the Blackpool and Mayfield libraries, remain open during lunchtimes.
  • We are closed on public holidays and on the Saturdays preceding bank-holiday Mondays, and on Good Friday and during Christmas.
  • Items on loan can be renewed online, regardless of library opening hours.
