On 23 June 2015, Douglas Library was the first library in Cork City Libraries to introduce self-service for checking in and checking out books. Special kiosks are provided so that borrowers can control the circulation of books quite independently of staff. This allows staff to devote more time to dealing with your enquiries and with developmental work. Self-service was extended to the new Hollyhill Library when it opened on 1 July 2015, and in the Central Library on 9 September 2015. Self-service will be phased in throughout throughout our other libraries during 2016–17.
