The Central Library on the Grand Parade is home to the City Libraries’ largest collections of books, periodicals, CDs, DVDs and other materials for adults and children. The Central Library delivers a library service through five public-service departments: Adult Lending; Kids & Teens; Reference; Local Studies; and Music. The Central Library also provides management and administrative services, including computer and cataloguing support, for all public-service sections administered by Cork City Libraries in local libraries as well as in the Central Library. Visitors are welcome to browse among books, periodicals, and newspapers in all our libraries. Public-access computers are available at €1 per half-hour session.
Visitors to the Central Library can listen to a varied collection of music on CD, DVD, vinyl, and tape formats. The Thomas Davis Room in the Central Library provides a public space for reading groups / book clubs and for talks organized in conjunction with the Library.
