Athenry : An Odyssey of Sacrifice, Survival and Love

Cathal Dunne achieved his dream in 1979 when his song “Happy Man” represented Ireland at the Eurovision. He subsequently pursued a musical career in America, settling in Pittsburgh with wife Kathleen and family, but has never neglected his roots. Cathal has now extended his creative horizons by writing ‘Athenry’, a novel inspired by the much-loved Pete St. John song. A story of love and heartbreak set during the Great Famine, it will be launched at Cork City Libraries on Saturday, August 23rd.
