Learning and Information | Foghlaim agus Eolas
Libraries are resources for, and centres of learning — supporting both formal (structured classes and courses) and informal (self-directed) learning for people aged 12 years and upwards.
- a learning space: an accessible, community-oriented, open, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment;
- a supportive environment with good facilities;
- learning resources: book, non-book and online resources;
- skilled and helpful staff.
We have strong links with agencies such as the Cork Education and Training Board (ETB), Lifelong Learning Festival, Centre for Adult & Continuing Education in UCC, and SOLAS (formerly FÁS), in order to enhance the range and quality of our supports for the learning city.
Libraries are key players in the Lifelong Learning Festival. The range of learning opportunities offered during the festival continues to grow and develop. Libraries also participate in the Adult Education Exhibition each year.
Cork City Libraries supports the Work Matters Nationwide Initiative by providing a series of lectures and workshops supporting job seekers and business owners. We also offer access to printing, PCs, Wi-Fi, online learning, books and research guidance. This service is available city-wide.
