Exhibition: Cork Faces and Places

Kieran O’Callaghan, an artist residing near Béal na Bláth, brings Mayfield Library its May exhibition. Kieran specialises in pencil and charcoal portraits of notable contemporary and historic Cork personalities. Tomás MacCutain, Tom Barry, Frank O’Connor (for whom the library is officially named, all figure. Particularly poignant is a sketch in charcoal of the ruins of Cork’s city hall following its burning in 1920. Adding a contrasting splash of colour and speed to the exhibition are pieces featuring inter-county GAA action.
