Online Poetry Workshop with Poet – in – the-Community Jenny Mitchell.
How Do We Work Creatively with Diverse Groups and Take Care of Our Needs? Join Cork City Libraries’ Poet-in-the-Community, Jenny Mitchell, for an online session that looks at how to use poetry to work with diverse groups. In a world that seems increasingly uncertain, is it even more important that festival organisers, practitioners and facilitators are more conscious of the work they off er in group settings? How can this be done in a way that allows everyone in the room to feel safe, seen and respected? Is poetry a good way to bring people together, and how can it help to build a sense of shared community? How can facilitators act in a non-judgemental way, and to hear negative feedback without becoming defensive? Participants will be offered a series of creative prompts that allow them to think about why they do this work and how they can deepen their practice. It will be a non-judgemental session with time for self-reflection and discussion. Booking in advance is essential to receive a link to the workshop; patricia_looney@corkcity.ie
